How accurate are you?

By combining machine learning with verification checks using human intelligence, we average 98.4% accuracy for individuals with a social media presence as reported by our clients. If your paralegal has better accuracy, we would like to hire him/her! If we get the wrong person, let us know and you don't pay for that profile.

What should I expect my match rate to be?

There are many factors that contribute to your match rate. First, not everyone has a social media account of any kind. It is estimated that only about 60-70% of people use social media. Also, having very little information about a person makes it very difficult to pinpoint a subject. An email address or middle name greatly inproves the chances that we will pinpoint a person.

What is Machine Learning?

Machine Learning is the creation of programs that make predictions or that help users to understand complex phenomena. (Thanks to Achoum’s blog for this definition). We use it to take millions of data points to learn what matters most to reduce risk in your firm. Machine learning means we can easily customize our results to your needs and not just general needs.

How long can I store the data?

You can store and use Vijilent data for as long as you are a paid Vijilent customer. We ask that you make a committment to empathic data management (see below for a definition of empathic data management).

Do you have a free trial?

When you sign up, you get a free trial of 5 searches. Though our interface is straightforward, you can call us if you need assistance or training.

What about privacy?

Understanding the potential sensitivity of people's data makes privacy a very important issue for us. Our API and WebApp only provide information already publicly available either from free or paid sources. We practice empathic data science.

Where does Vijilent get its data?

We use multiple data sources sifting through millions of data points to find the most reliable information. Our deep web search methods gather on-demand and fresh social media information. We then use natural language processing and statistical analyses based on university research to provide reliable results.

What is empathic data management/science?

Empathic data management/science means that we understand that there are people behind the data we provide. We have an opt-out program for individuals who don’t want their data shared. At Vijilent we don’t do anything with your data we wouldn’t want done to our own.

What laws/rulings do you abide with?

All the data used by Vijilent is publicly available. We respect people's privacy and will not use any content from social media that may be marked as private. We also have an opt-out form for those who don't want their data to be searched. To comply with GDPR, we do not provide accounts to individuals with EU e-mail or postal addresses. Vijilent is not a credit reporting agency and as such our DataPortraits may not be used for any activity covered by the FCRA.

How long does a search take?

We can return results in less than 5 minutes in our webapp for an individual with lots of public data. For batches up to 250 names, results are returned in 24 hours from the time we receive your list, with one day prior notice.
