Vijilent launches its Data-Portraits® - What does your social media say about you?

Posted by Bianca Wilk

We're really excited to be launching our Data-Portraits® today!  So let me introduce to you our hard work of this summer.

What is a Data-Portrait®?

A Data-Portrait® is a digital profile based on the social media data of an individual. We gather publicly available data from thousands of sites. The data is brought together and processed. In addition, we evaluate the data using natural language processing (NLP) and sentiment analysis. From these insights, four product offerings come to life: the V.Finder, the V.Miner, the V.Analyzer and the V.Seer. Brief descriptions of each product follow below. But to get a good idea of what we have accomplished, you really should try out our super cool demo. It's free and no sign-up is required.

Introducing the V.Finder

To get started, we need your email address. With this basic information, we first search public archives for identification information on you such as gender, age, and address. Then we locate any social media sites you have- usually Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter. This basic information is returned as the V.Finder.  We find and report basic information with this product.

Introducing the V.Miner

With the V.Miner, we go to your social media sites and gather any content you have made publicly available. If you have set your sites to private, we can gather very little information. Those sites that are more open provide us with richer data. This means a better picture of who you are. These results are delivered as our V.Miner product.

Introducing the V.Analyzer

For the V.Analyzer product, we take the data and run it through our custom algorithms. Using natural language processing, we determine text sentiment analysis (Positive, Neutral, Negative) and emotional tone of the text (Happy, Approving, Energetic, Brave, Joyful). This is an analysis of the text itself and not the person.  Also, we evaluate a Big 5 personality assessment (Openness, Conscientiousness, Extroversion, Agreeableness, and Calm- often referred to as Neurotic). The Big 5 is more focused on an individual’s traits.  Due to our data mining superpowers, we can deliver a data-rich, Data-Portrait®.

Introducing the V.Seer

The V.Seer is for those companies that want to use their existing data to help with better business intelligence.  This is where our machine learning powers really shine. For example, companies can build ideal consumer profiles that can be matched against new customer prospects. Mixing the V.Seer with any of the other products gives the firm superpowers to better serve you!

Why should you care?

People wonder what the data we collected is used for. Companies use the data to build a better customer relationship with you, lower your insurance costs, identify you against fraudsters in online transactions and more. For example, with sentiment analysis, a firm easily identifies if you are upset with an interaction with the company. Maybe you posted something in Facebook.  Consequently, the proactive company will reach out to you to ask, how it can do better. Likewise, if you love a product, these companies want to keep you happy and can offer rewards for loyal customers.  The emotional tone provides a richer outlook of how you are feeling. As you can see below, I am generally positive and display energy and approval in my social media content.

Analyzing Words

So that you're just not another name and number, word clouds are being used to understand you as a person. My word clouds says my interests are in safety, trust, women and sharing.  Due to the word cloud, interests and topics that matter most to you are revealed. This means companies can customize their interactions with you. You, the valued customer, receive products and services that matter most to you.

At Vijilent, we evaluate your Big 5 Personality.  My profile shows that I’m Aggressive (as opposed to Agreeable) but Open.  Anyone who knows me would very likely agree with this insight!  While Big 5 personalities are interesting, they may not always be useful. Our recent research at Vijilent shows that other personalities scores (not just the Big 5) can be used to build trust and safety into network platforms. Positive evidence suggests that personality scores can determine how open a person is to new people.  As a result, we think the gig (sharing) economy can improve with Vijilent's products.  When two parties are rated as compatible on personality scores, a better exchange is the outcome.
